Excel Lasers’ range of diode lasers, fibres, handpieces and accessories has been designed to offer maximum versatility and to cover all procedures likely to be encountered by the ENT laser surgeon. A diode laser offers advantages of high precision, virtually no side effects, minimal bleeding and improved patient recovery. Additionally, the affordable cost of ownership is an important factor in choosing a diode laser system. Excel Lasers will help you to select the best combination of laser, fibre and handpiece to suit your specialisation.
Diode lasers have been used in a wide range of ENT procedures since the 1990s. Today, the versatility of the device is limited only by the knowledge and skill of the user. Thanks to the experience built up by clinicians over the intervening years, the range of applications has expanded beyond the scope of this document, but includes:
Excision of laryngeal tumours
Incision of pseudo myxoma
Vaporisation of leukoplakia on larynx
Vaporisation of papilloma
Removal of polyps
Vaporisation of oral tumours
The Lasotronix SMARTm range is the latest addition to our portfolio of diode lasers, which also includes INTERmedic, Gigaa and refurbished Diomed systems.
For ENT applications, the SMARTm has the advantages of portability, low cost and a built-in library of preset settings that can be modified to suit the user’s personal requirements.
■ SMARTm models:
► 980 nm 15 W
► 980 nm 30 W
► 1470 nm 15 W
■ Made in Europe
■ Compact & stylish
■ Not tied to proprietary fibres
■ Touchscreen interface
If your budget is restricted then a refurbished Diomed D15plus, at around half the price, makes an excellent alternative.
Available in 400 µm and 600 µm core sizes with a bare, flat-tip. These fibres are suited for coagulating or vapourising tissue in non-contact surgery, and incising and excising with haemostasis in contact mode.
Conical Tip Fibre
Available in 600 µm core size with a tip size of 300µm. Conical fibres are used where a narrow or precise incision/excision with haemostasis is required.
|Type||Order Code||Core Diameter||Tip Size||Fibre length||Outer Diameter|
|Flat Tip||ELF400T||400 µm||400 µm||3 m||700 µm|
|Flat Tip||ELF600T||600 µm||600 µm||3 m||900 µm|
|Conical Tip||ELF600CON||600 µm||300 µm||3 m||900 µm|
■ Boxed in sets of 5 or 10 (discount offered on higher quantities)
■ Standard SMA connector – no proprietary interfaces
■ Other types available – please give us your requirements
To complement your fibre you will need to select from our range of reusable/autoclavable handpieces. These are designed to aid access to the treatment site and provide precise control of the fibre tip. Each handpiece is designed for optimal results in different applications, as described in the table below.
■ Intended for use with 600 µm fibres having an outer diameter up to 1.1 mm
■ Available with extended, angled and/or malleable cannula
■ All handles have integral gas seals preventing fibre movement and escape of gas
■ Malleable cannula can be formed to the desired shape to suit specific needs of a surgical procedure.
■ Made in the UK
